Box Score
Yonkers, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team earned a hard fought 2-0 win over visiting Culinary on Saturday night to move its season opening winning streak to seven games. Kevin Jardines (South Gate, Calif.) scored the game winner for the Dolphins, who eclipsed the program's win total from the past three seasons with the victory.

In a tightly contested contest, the Dolphins finally broke through at 34:57 when Jardines nudged a centering pass from Matthew Samaan (Manalapan, N.J.) home for the eventual game winner. The goal was Jardines fifth overall and it marked his team leading third game winning tally of the season.

After taking a 1-0 lead in to the intermission, Mount Saint Vincent got some breathing room with just under 15 minutes left in regulation when Hubert Bararwandika (Bronx, N.Y.) cashed in on his second goal of the season. After his initial shot was blocked, he corralled the rebound and tucked it under the bar for an insurance tally.

With his scoring output on Saturday, Jardines is second on the team in goals with five and tied for second on the squad in points with 12. Samaan recorded his 10th point of the season with his second helper of the campaign and Bararwandika has a career-high in points with six on the strength of two goals and a pair of assists.

Freshman David Melchor (Los Angeles, Calif.) recorded the win and his sixth shutout of the season in goal for the Mount. He made two saves, both late in the contest to preserve the two goal advantage for the Dolphins. His goals against average on the season was lowered to 0.15 and his save percentage was raised to .944.

Overall in the game, Mount Saint Vincent outshot the Culinary 20-11 overall and 11-2 in shots on goal. Corner kicks on the night went to the Mount 9-5 and fouls in the contest were whistled 13 apiece.

Saturday's win pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 7-0 on the season. Next up for the Dolphins is a trip to John Jay on Monday. Kick-off at Randall's Island with the Bloodhounds is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
