New Rochelle, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team dropped its second straight five set decision on Thursday with a 12-25, 25-17, 25-13, 16-25, 13-15 loss on the road at New Rochelle.
Ashleigh Scozzari (New Rochelle, N.Y.) posted her second straight double-double for the Dolphins and
Jennifer Roman (Queens Village, N.Y.) lifted a career best 18 digs.

After dropping the opening set on Thursday, Mount Saint Vincent rebounded to take the next two sets and pull in front 2-1. The Dolphins took advantage of a combined 22 attack errors from the Blue Angles over the two sets and received a combined eight kills from Scozzari to take the lead in the match.

New Rochelle rebounded to knot the match at two sets apiece with 10 kills and four service aces in the fourth set. Meghan King collected half of the team's kills in the set with Diana Desir and Tiany Perez Diaz each recording a pair of service aces.

In a tightly contested fifth set on Thursday, the Blue Angels used a 4-0 run to pull in front 13-10 in the deciding frame. Marissa Armstrong bookended the run with kills and Indigo Flowers provided back-to-back service aces to move New Rochelle in front 12-10.

Mount Saint Vincent responded with a 3-0 run of its own to tie things at 13-13 with a pair of kills from Scozzari sparking the run. New Rochelle would use a pair of Dolphin miscues to collect the final two points and earn its second win of the season over the Mount.

Scozzari led all players in the match with 15 kills and posted double-figures in the category for the fourth straight match and the fifth time this season. She picked up her second straight double-double with 10 digs and also added a pair of total blocks for the Dolphins.

Zana Daluz (Pawtucket, R.I.) continued her steady play for Mount Saint Vincent with 24 assists and 17 digs, good for her team leading sixth double-double of the season. Roman led the Dolphins in digs on Thursday with 18 and also added a pair of service aces.

Freshman
Maria Leineweber (Waimanalo, Hawaii) recorded five kills and lifted nine digs for the Dolphins with
Brianna Walker (Pomona, N.Y.) adding three winners and two total blocks.

New Rochelle was paced by 14 kills from King on the night who also added 10 digs. Flowers handed out a match-high 27 assists to go along with 16 digs and six aces and Perez Diaz rounded out the match with 13 digs. Armstrong chipped in with eight kills for the Blue Angles.

Overall on the night, New Rochelle finished with a 34-30 edge in kills with the Mount committing 30 attack errors and 10 service errors. New Rochelle took a 16-6 advantage in service aces on the night, while total team blocks went to the Mount 4-2.

Thursday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 3-12 overall on the season. The Dolphins will return to Skyline Conference play on Saturday when they travel to Patchogue, N.Y. to take on Sage and Purchase.Â
