Women’s Volleyball Swept By Hunter In Non-Conference Finale

Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team was handed at 25-10, 25-8 and 25-5 loss on Thursday night by visiting Hunter in its final non-conference contest of the season. Freshman Brianna Walker (Pomona, N.Y.) led the Mount Saint Vincent offensive attack with six kills.
 
Mount Saint Vincent led only twice on the night after opening the scoring in both the second and third sets. Hunter finished the night hitting an impressive .435 as a team and featured seven players with at least one kill and six players hitting at least .400.
 
Walker led the Dolphins with six winners and a .214 hitting percentage, with Jennifer Roman (Queens Village, N.Y.) adding three kills and a team-high seven digs.
 
Sophomore Zana Daluz (Pawtucket, R.I.) handed out eight assists for Mount Saint Vincent to go along with three digs and a block, while Alberita Rugova (New York, N.Y.), Maria Leineweber (Waimanalo, Hawaii) and Colleen Kallop (Bronx, N.Y.) all lifted five digs.
 
Brianna O'Hagan and Rebecca Schell led the Hunter attack with nine kills each, while Samantha Barrett adding seven and a .600 hitting percentage. Taylor Kordich paced all players with 26 assists and three service aces and Alisa Jaganjac lifted a match-high 16 digs
 
Hunter finished the night with a 27-11 advantage in kills and a 6-1 edge in service aces. The Hawks also wrapped up the match with 6.0 total team blocks against 2.0 for the Dolphins.
 
Thursday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 6-17 overall on the season. The Dolphins will close out the regular season on Sunday with a pair of Skyline Conference matches at the Peter Jay Sharp Center. The Mount will host Mount Saint Mary at 10:00 a.m. and then Yeshiva at noon.
