Throggs Neck, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team suffered a tough Skyline Conference decision on the road at Maritime on Thursday night by a score of 1-0. Freshman David Melchor (Los Angeles, Calif.) made five saves in the game that had Skyline Conference Tournament implications for the Dolphins.
 
Maritime got the only goal of the contest in the early going on Thursday when Kieran Donnelly potted the game winner in the 10^th minute. He took a pass from Renato Chira-Farfan and found the back of the net at 9:37.
 
The Privateers outshot Mount Saint Vincent 15-4 in the opening 45 minutes and took both corner kicks that were awarded. Melchor made all five of his saves in the opening stanza.
 
The Dolphins limited Maritime to just two shots in the second half, but could not solve Privateer keeper Karl Weber. Weber finished with six saves in the win and made three stops in each half for Maritime.
 
Mount Saint Vincent was outshot in the game 17-9 overall, while shots on goal in the contest were even at six apiece. Corner kicks on the night were even at 4-4.
 
Kevin Jardines (South Gate, Calif.) led all players in the game with five shots, including two shots on goal. Chira-Farfan led Maritime with four shots and was one of four players with at least three attempts in the game.
 
Thursday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 11-5-1 overall on the season and to 2-5 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Yeshiva. The game will be played at Maritime with kick-off set for noon.
