Mount Saint Vincent Edged By Farmingdale State

Hilly makes 15 saves in goal for the Dolphins

Farmingdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team dropped its second straight league contest on Wednesday afternoon following a 1-0 road loss at Farmingdale State. Junior goalkeeper Kelly Hilly (Massapequa, N.Y.) stopped 15 shots for the Dolphins.
 
Wednesday's game winning goal came in the fifth minute when the Rams tallied off a corner kick at the 4:47 mark of the match. Alexa Orlando picked up a ball in front off a corner from Ashley Appel and found the back of the net for the deciding tally.
 
The Rams allowed just two Mount Saint Vincent shots in the opening 45 minutes and outshot the Dolphins 12-2 overall in the period. Hilly finished the stanza with nine stops.  Farmingdale State also took three of the four corner kicks in the first half.
 
The home standing Rams continued to pressure after the halftime intermission and finished the second half with 23 shots against just three for the Mount. Hilly was forced to make six more saves for Mount Saint Vincent to keep the Dolphins within a goal.
 
Hilly finished the game with double figures in saves for the first time in 2013. Her previous high in a game came against King's (Pa.) when she denied nine attempts from the Monarchs. Breanna Blair picked up the win for the Rams after making three second half saves.
 
Mount Saint Vincent was outshot 35-5 overall in the game and 16-3 in shots on goal. Five different Dolphins recorded a shot on Wednesday, with Courtney LaTorre (Denville, N.J.), Ashley Mars (Hicksville, N.Y.) and Taylor McGinn (East Rockaway, N.Y.) each getting a shot on goal.
 
The Rams rounded out the contest with a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks and fouls in the game were whistled 7-1 against the Rams.
 
Wednesday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 6-4 overall and to 1-2 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Friday when they hit the road to take on Yeshiva. Kick-off at Tibbetts Brook Park is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
