Purchase, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team was upended on Wednesday night on the road at Purchase in a hard fought 1-0 decision. Four Mount Saint Vincent players finished the game with two shots and rookie goalkeeper David Melchor (Los Angeles, Calif.) made a pair of saves.
 
In a tightly contested opening 45 minutes, Mount Saint Vincent held a 4-2 edge in shots as the two teams went to the intermission in a scoreless tie. The Dolphins did not allow a Purchase attempt after the 20:30 mark of the half and Hubert Bararwandika (Bronx, N.Y.) sent an attempt wide for the Mount at 34:03.
 
Purchase would come out of halftime and connect on the game winning marker inside the first three minutes of the stanza. Danny Moallem converted his third goal of the season at 47:57 off a rebound to send the Panthers to 6-3-2 overall and to 3-0-1 in league play.
 
The Dolphins outshot Purchase 6-3 after halftime and forced the Panthers' keeper, Esteban Aguilar, to make five stops. Mount Saint Vincent got three shots off in the final 10 minutes, with Jorge Chavez (West Covina, Calif.) forcing Aguilar to make a save at the 86:57 mark. Victor Ramirez (Los Angeles, Calif.) sent a shot wide in the final minute for the Mount.
 
Melchor rounded out the night with two saves, both coming after halftime, on Wednesday night. For the season, Melchor holds a 0.70 goals against average and a .827 save percentage. Aguilar finished up the night with six saves to earn the win for Purchase.
 
Bararwandika, Ramirez, Kevin Jardines (South Gate, Calif.) and Matthew Samaan (Manalapan, N.J.) all finished with two shots on the night as the Mount outshot Purchase 10-5 overall and 6-3 in shots on goal. Purchase held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks on Wednesday and fouls were called 17-11 against the Panthers.
 
Wednesday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 10-3 overall on the season and to 1-3 against Skyline Conference opponents. The Dolphins will return to league play on Saturday night when the welcome Old Westbury. Kick-off at Gaelic Park is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
