Zuccaro leads the Dolphins with 18 points

Throggs Neck, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Basketball team dropped its fourth straight contest on Tuesday night after a 79-57 road loss at league foe Maritime. Junior James Zuccaro (Gilbert, Ariz.) led three Dolphins in double-figures with 18 points.
 
Mount Saint Vincent led only briefly on Tuesday after Gerard Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) converted the initial basket of the game 28 seconds into the contest. From there, the Privateers went on a 28-5 run covering nearly 12 minutes to take a 21 point lead with just under eight minutes left in the first half.
 
The Dolphins would not get the disadvantage under double-figures the rest of the half, but whittled the Maritime lead to 12 after a Zuccaro conversion with 1:04 left before halftime.
 
Mount Saint Vincent shot 9-for-28 overall in the opening 20 minutes and went 0-for-10 from behind the arc. The Privateers built their advantage after connecting on 48-percent of their field goal chances and knocking down three triples. Ron Bethea led all scorers at the break with 13 points.
 
Coming out of the break, Mount Saint Vincent would slice its deficit to eight points, at 45-37, with just over 14 minutes left in regulation after a quick 6-0 run. D'Andre McPhatter (Bronx, N.Y.) and Zuccaro accounted for all six points and got the Mount's disadvantage under 10 points for the first time since it was 15-6.
 
Maritime quickly got the lead back to 10 points on the following possession and later used a 24-11 run to open its largest lead of the game with 4:24 to play. The Privateers would keep their lead over 20 points for the balance of the game and allowed just one Mount Saint Vincent field goal over the final three minutes.
 
The Dolphins struggled shooting the ball on Tuesday, converting on 32.8-percent of its field goal chances. The Dolphins went 1-for-23 from distance in the game and went just 12-for-24 from the free-throw line.
 
Maritime outscored Mount Saint Vincent by nine from the free-throw line and finished the game with six three-pointers. Overall, the Privateers shot an even 51-percent from the floor.
 
T-Vaughn Gibson led all scorers on the night for Maritime with 28 points on 9-for-12 shooting. He converted three triples in the game and went 7-for-11 from the free-throw line. Sean Corley netted 19 points for Maritime and also added six rebounds and six assists. Bethea rounded out the night with three steals to go along with 13 points.
 
Zuccaro reached his team-high point total after shooting 7-for-10 from the floor. He also added six rebounds and four steals. McPhatter scored in double-figures for the fourth time this season with 13 points and also added a team-high seven rebounds. Fraser added 11 points for the Mount on 4-for-8 shooting.
 
Tuesday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 4-12 overall and to 2-7 in league play. The Dolphins will return home on Thursday when they welcome Sage to the Peter Jay Sharp Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
