Farmingdale, N.Y. – Junior Desiree Rosa (Dumont, N.J.) knocked in a season-high five three-pointers and finished with 15 points, but the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team was dealt its second straight loss on Saturday afternoon following a 61-54 defeat at Farmingdale State.
 
Rosa got the Dolphins off to a quick start with her first of five triples within the first 20 seconds on Saturday, but the Dolphins managed just two more points over the next three-plus minutes. The Rams jumped out to a 13-5 lead following a Nikita Green three-pointer at the 14:11 mark.
 
Sinead Gooney (Bronx, N.Y.) got the Mount back to within four points with a bucket at 9:08, but Farmingdale St. quickly spread its lead back to 15 points after a Siobhan Purvis conversion at the 5:46 mark of the frame.
 
The Dolphins would again slice into the disadvantage when a Shannon Koch (Kings Park, N.Y.) basket got the Mount back to within eight with just under four minutes left in the half. Mount Saint Vincent then went on to go scoreless over the final 3:27 of the period, allowing Farmingdale St. to carry a 35-23 lead into the break.
 
Rosa led the Dolphins at the half with nine points after going 3-for-4 from distance. The Mount shot only 27.3-percent from the floor overall, but 50-percent from behind the arc. Green led all scorers with 10 points for the Rams, who shot 41.4-percent from the field.
 
The Rams would maintain a two possession lead for the entire second half and opened the game up with a 16-2 run over nearly seven minutes of action. Christina Merrill capped the run and gave the Rams a 55-35 lead with just over six minutes showing on the clock.
 
The Dolphins would string together one more run and Rosa sliced the disadvantage to five points with a three-pointer in the final half minute. The bucket capped a 19-4 stretch, but Farmingdale converted its final two free-throws to secure its eighth straight win over the Mount.
 
The Dolphins shot under 40-percent overall from the floor for the seventh straight game on Saturday, but shot 46.2-percent from behind the arc; its second highest mark of the year.
 
Rosa went 5-for-8 from behind the arc and also grabbed three rebounds. Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the Mount with 17 points and also handed out four assists.
 
Tanisha Montague (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Yen Pham (Queens, N.Y.) each handed out five assists, with Pham also pacing the Dolphins with a career-high six rebounds.
 
Green matched the game-high with 17 points for the Rams and Nicky Young closed the afternoon with 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Lushanta Savadel led all players with 16 rebounds to go along with three blocks.
 
Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent 5-10 overall and keeps its winless in league play at 0-7. The Dolphins will return home on Monday to host non-conference foe Hunter. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
