Yonkers, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team fell at home Monday night to visiting Mount Saint Mary by a score of 6-0.
Marni O'Shea (White Plains, N.Y.) finished the game with 14 saves in goal for the Dolphins.
Mount Saint Mary got the game winning tally early on Monday night when Shanice Robe finished a pass from Nicole Gianotti just two minutes into the tilt. The Knights would also get a pair of first half markers from Marissa Segreto to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
The visitors carried the play for much of the first half and held a 17-1 advantage in shots at the break. Mount Saint Mary also took all seven corner kicks in the opening 45 minutes.
Mount Saint Mary added its fourth goal of the game just over three minutes into the second half when Brigit Burgio headed home a cross from Lindsey Oro off a corner kick at the 48:38 mark of the match. Oro would get a goal of her own in the 58
th minute, before Tara McDermott closed out the scoring at 71:41.
Although allowing six goals, O'Shea played a strong game in goal for the Dolphins. She made nine saves before halftime and then denied five more shots in the second half. Jacquelyn Mancini and Abigail McQuillen each made one stop for the Knights.
Overall on the night, Mount Saint Mary held a 30-2 advantage in shots with 20 shots being on target. The Knights also took all eight corner kicks on the night.
The loss is Mount Saint Vincent's second in as many outings and drops it back to the .500 mark overall at 4-4 and to 0-2 in league play. The Dolphins will look to get back in the win column on Saturday when they play host to Farmingdale St. Kick-off at Tibbetts Brook Park is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
