Allison Bhadai (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) scored two goals, including the overtime winner, and
Louisa Jamgochian (Olney, Md.) added a goal and an assist as the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team won its third straight game with a 5-4 overtime victory at Saint Elizabeth on Monday afternoon.
Mount Saint Vincent got off to a good start on Monday when
Brittany Kehoe (Stony Point, N.Y.) scored her second goal of the season in the 12
th minute. She took a centering pass from senior
Ashley Parise (Bayside, N.Y.) and beat Saint Elizabeth keeper Catherine De La Cruz for an early 1-0 lead.
The 1-0 advantage stood until the Eagles stormed back with two goals inside of a minute in the 39
th minute. Kelly O'Dell scored the equalizer off a corner kick taken by Amy Rowe at 38:03 and then Cassidy Crane converted a penalty kick at 38:55 to push Saint Elizabeth in front 2-1.
Trailing by a goal late in the first half, Mount Saint Vincent got back even at 2-2 in the 41
st minute. Jamgochian got the game leveled when she caught De La Cruz by surprise with a shot from 30 yards out.
Saint Elizabeth came out of halftime and regained a one goal lead when O'Dell finished off her second of the game and fifth of the season off a free kick in at the 53:22 mark of the match.
Eva Lugo (Monteria, Columbia) responded with her second goal in as many games just over 10 minutes later to knot the game at 3-3. Jamgochian put a ball into the box where Lugo collected in and pushed it through to the right corner for her second of the year.
At the 68:48 mark of the contest, Bhadai struck with her first of the game and fourth of the season when she put a shot into the left corner. The 4-3 Mount Saint Vincent lead stood until the final seven minutes when Jasmine Bristol picked up a loose ball in the box and knotted the score at four goals apiece.
Playing their first overtime game of the season, Mount Saint Vincent got the game winner late in the first extra stanza when Bhadai scored her team leading fifth goal of the season when she carried the ball past a Saint Elizabeth defender and scored to the right corner.
Mount Saint Vincent finished the contest with a slim 12-9 advantage in shots, including a 10-7 edge in shots on goal. Saint Elizabeth took seven of the eight corner kicks in the game and fouls in the tilt were called 11-3 against the Dolphins.
Marni O'Shea (White Plains, N.Y.) picked up the win in goal for Mount Saint Vincent after making three saves on the day. De La Cruz closed the day with five stops for Saint Elizabeth.
The win gives Mount Saint Vincent its longest winning streak since it won four straight from September 17-October 1 during the 2007 season. The Dolphins stand at 3-2 overall on the season and will be back in action on Wednesday when they hosts John Jay. Kick-off at Westchester Community College is set for 4:00 p.m.
