Garden City, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team was defeated for the fourth time in its last five games on Saturday afternoon following a hard fought 2-0 loss at Old Westbury. Senior goalkeeper
Marni O'Shea (White Plains, N.Y.) continued her solid play for the Mount with six saves.
Despite begin outshot 11-3 in the opening 45 minutes, Mount Saint Vincent went to the intermission in a scoreless tie with the Panthers. O'Shea made three saves in the first half to keep the Mount in the game.
The two teams continued their stalemate over the first 20 minutes of the second period on Saturday, until Morgan Zuhoski scored in the 70
th minute to give the Panthers a 1-0 advantage. Anna Noens picked up an assist on the game winning goal for Old Westbury.
Trailing by a goal in the late stages of the game, Mount Saint Vincent saw the home standing Panthers double their lead in the final minute when Marissa Brightman finished off a pass from Zuhoski at the 89:35 mark of the match.
Zuhoksi finished the day with three points for Old Westbury, which featured three different players with at least one point.
O'Shea made three more saves for the Dolphins after halftime on Saturday and with her performance now has 54 stops and a .701 save percentage on the season. Caitlin Thomas earned the victory in goal after making nine saves for the Panthers.
For the game, Old Westbury held the advantage in overall shots 22-11, while the Dolphins had a 9-8 edge in shots on goal.
Brittany Kehoe (Stony Point, N.Y.) and
Meghan Siller (Staten Island, N.Y.) each finished the game with two shots on goal for the Dolphins.
Saturday's result sees Mount Saint Vincent fall to 5-6 overall on the campaign and to 1-4 against Skyline Conference rivals. The Dolphins will be back in action on Tuesday night when they host Sage. Kick-off at Tibbetts Brook Park is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
