, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team halted its four match Skyline Conference losing streak on Monday night with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Yeshiva. The Dolphins took the match by scores of 25-17, 27-25 and 25-12. Sophomore Morgane Booker (East Providence, R.I.) led all players with 12 kills and Erin MacBride (Merrick, N.Y.) posted her fourth double-double of the season.
 
After falling behind in the opening set by a score of 2-0, the Mount ran off three straight points and six of the next seven to open a 6-3 lead. The Dolphins would not be able to pull away from the Maccabees until a four point spurt late in the set pushed their lead to 19-11. Back-to-back kills from MacBride pushed the Mount Saint Vincent lead to 23-17, before the Dolphins put the stanza away on an ace from Kaitlyn Gaynor (Island Park, N.Y.) and a kill from Kristine DeMasi (Brooklyn, N.Y.).
 
The second set was a back-and-forth affair from the start as each team traded scoring runs. After trading the first two points of the frame, the Mount ran off five straight points on the strength of a service ace and a kill from MacBride.
 
Yeshiva would answer later in the set with five straight points of its own to take an 11-9 lead. From there no team would take more then three consecutive tallies until Yeshiva reeled off six straight to take a 22-20 lead. Mount Saint Vincent would answer with four of the next five to take a 24-23 lead and then the final three points of the frame keyed by a kill from Booker to knot the score at 25-25.
 
Mount Saint Vincent cruised in the third set after totaling 13 kills and hitting .229 as a unit. The Mount took control of the set and the match with a 10 point scoring run to open up a commanding 12-4 lead. Yeshiva would close to within 20-11 late in the stanza, but three kills from Booker late in the set put the match away and gave the Dolphins their first league win of the season.
 
Booker totaled a match and career-high with her 12 kills on the night and hit an impressive .478 overall. She committed just one attack error on the night in 23 total chances. She also chipped in with four aces, nine digs and a pair of total blocks for the Dolphins.
 
MacBride continued her steady play for Mount Saint Vincent after finishing with a match-high 27 assists and a career-high 20 digs. MacBride also matched Booker for the match-high with four service aces.
 
Designa Correa (Bronx, N.Y.) also had a strong match for the Dolphins after totaling a career-high seven kills to go along with three assists, 12 digs and a solo block. Correa was one of four Dolphins to reach double-figures in digs, with Maureen Metzner (Mineola, N.Y.) posting 19 and Renee Reynes (Bronx, N.Y.) totaling 10.
 
Yeshiva was led on the night by Ashley Ansel who finished with five kills and Moriah Green who totaled a team-high 11 assists. Sarit Zukowsky led all players on Monday night with a match-high 24 digs.
 
For the match, Mount Saint Vincent held the edge in kills 36-16 and hit .138 as a team. The Dolphins also lifted 80 digs and had the only three total team blocks in the match.
 
The win pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 5-11 overall on the season and to 1-4 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will continue a busy week on Thursday when they take on John Jay. The non-conference match is slated for 6:00 p.m.
