Farmingdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team opened Skyline Conference play on Sunday afternoon with losses to Old Westbury and Farmingdale St. The Dolphins fell to Old Westbury in five sets by scores of 18-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-14 and 12-15 before falling to Farmingdale St. in three sets by scores of 17-25, 22-25 and 12-25.
 
In the five set match against Old Westbury to start the day, senior Jessica Williams (Cornwall, N.Y.) hit .263 and recorded a career-high 15 kills. She committed just five attack errors in the match in 38 attempts for the Dolphins. She rounded out a double-double effort for the Mount with 16 digs to go along with a service ace and a total block.
 
Williams was not the only Mount Saint Vincent player to post a career-high against the Panthers, as junior setter Erin MacBride (Merrick, N.Y.) handed out a career-best 30 assists. She also totaled a pair of aces in the contest and lifted nine digs for the Dolphins.
 
Morgane Booker (East Providence, R.I.) led all players in the match with five total blocks and also posted six kills and a team-high four service aces. Maurenn Metzner (Mineola, N.Y.) added three aces for the Dolphins as well as six kills and 13 digs.
 
Old Westbury was paced on the day by Ashley Greene who collected 11 kills and Tynisha Giordano with 10 kills. Kimberly Catania and Nancy Apollonio each lifted 16 digs, while Kristina Giordano led the team with 28 assists.
 
Overall in the match, Old Westbury led the way in kills 41-39, while the Mount held the advantage in digs 92-70 and totaled team blocks 6.5-5. Senior Renee Reynes (Bronx, N.Y.) led all players in the match for the Mount with 28 digs.
 
In the second match of the day, the Mount was again led by Williams with five kills against the Rams. Kaitlyn Gaynor (Island Park, N.Y.) posted three winners in the contest, while Booker finished up with a pair for the Mount.
 
Reynes continued her strong early season play for Mount Saint Vincent with a match-high 22 digs. Metzner lifted six digs for the Mount, while MacBride finished with nine digs to go along with nine assists.
 
Holly Sahner led Farmingdale St. with 12 kills on the day and Sarah Pallandino led all players with a match-high 28 assists. Jessica Zimmermann led the way for the Rams with 13 digs and Dominique Cunningham recorded a match-high four service aces.
 
Overall in the match, Farmingdale St. held the edge in kills 33-14, while the Dolphins lifted 49 digs to 46 for the Rams. Mount Saint Vincent also led the way in total team blocks 5-2, with Gabriella Burgos (Yonkers, N.Y.) finishing with four total blocks for the Mount.
 
The losses on Sunday drop Mount Saint Vincent to 3-9 overall on the season and to 0-2 in league play. The Dolphins will look to get back on track again on Thursday night when they host the College of New Rochelle. The match at the Peter Jay Sharpe Center is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
