Shannon Doyle (Central Islip, N.Y.) tallied her first career goal on Wednesday afternoon, but the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team fell in a non-conference road match at CCNY by a score of 4-1. Doyle became the fourth different Mount Saint Vincent player to find the back of the net so far this season.
CCNY (2-2) carried a 1-0 lead into halftime after Frances Tapia scored her first of two goals in the 24th minute of the contest. She finished off a feed from Yanique Newman, who finished the day with a pair of goals and two assists.
Tapia struck again for the Beavers at the 52:16 mark of the contest off another feed from Newman to convert the eventual game winner. Tapia's second marker started a string of three goals in just under nine minutes for CCNY. Newman followed with her two goals just under four minutes apart.
Mount Saint Vincent would get on the board at the 66:17 mark after Doyle deposited her first career goal for the Dolphins.
Sarah Colletti (Mansfield, Mass.) restarted the Dolphins after a foul and found Doyle for the Mount's lone marker on the day.
Despite allowing four goals, senior goalkeeper
Kara McNish (Hawthorne, N.J.) finished the day with a season-high 10 saves for Mount Saint Vincent. Nicole Carroll earned the win between the pipes for the Beavers after making four stops.
CCNY finished the contest with the edge in shots at 24-15, including a 14-5 advantage in shots on goal. Mount Saint Vincent did take seven corner kicks to six for the Beavers, while fouls in the tilt were whistled against CCNY by a 12-7 count.
Tuesday's loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 1-3 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action on Saturday when they open Skyline Conference play at Sage. Kick-off with the Gators is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
