St. Joseph's-L.I. Final Stats
Riverdale, N.Y. – Competing against a pair of league rivals on Saturday, the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team posted a 3-0 victory over Maritime before suffering a 3-0 loss at the hands of St. Joseph's-L.I. The Mount took the Maritime match by scores of 25-9, 25-15 and 25-19, but fell to the visiting Golden Eagles by scores of 18-25, 14-25 and 20-25.
Mount Saint Vincent used a balanced offensive attack against Maritime in the opener with six different players recording at least on kill in the match. Sophomore Morgane Booker (East Providence, R.I.) led the way with eight winners, while junior
Kristine DeMasi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished the contest with seven kills.
Senior
Jessica Williams (Cornwall, N.Y.) finished off the match with six kills for Mount Saint Vincent and classmate
Maureen Metzner (Mineola, N.Y.) posted five. Metzner was also one of three players for the Mount with double-figures in digs with 10. She joined DeMasi who posted 11 and
Renee Reynes (Bronx, N.Y.) who lifted a team-high 13.
Maritime was led in the contest by six kills from Jerrica Romero and four kills from Lauren Johnson. Natalie Jackson lifted a match-high 17 digs and Romero finished up with 13 digs.
Overall, Mount Saint Vincent hit .226 as a team and totaled 33 kills. The Dolphins also finished with nine service aces against the Privateers, with
Kaitlyn Gaynor (Island Park, N.Y.) leading the way with three. Booker and
Amanda Morenzi (Queens, N.Y.) each finished the match with a pair of aces.
The Dolphins finished the second match of the day with a second balanced attack with seven different players recording a kill. Metzner led the way with five winners for the Dolphins She also finished up the contest with nine defensive digs.
Reynes was again the team leader in digs with 20 in the tilt and she also posted a kill and a team-high three service aces.
Erin MacBride (Merrick, N.Y.) closed the match with 14 assists, while Booker led all players in the tilt with three total blocks.
The Golden Eagles used 11 kills from April Bennett to earn the victory, while Megan Caiazzo led all players with 30 assists. Ashley Lerrea also posted a match-high for St. Joseph's-L.I. with 29 digs.
Mount Saint Vincent closed out the second match of the day with a .022 hitting percentage after recording just 16 kills. The Mount lifted 51 digs and recorded three of the four total team blocks in the match.
The split on Saturday moves Mount Saint Vincent to 8-15 overall on the season and to 2-5 in the Skyline Conference. The Dolphins will be back on the court again on October 14 when they hit the road to take on Sage. The match with the Gators is slated for 7:00 p.m.
