Patchogue, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer squad fell for the second straight contest on Saturday afternoon after dropping a 7-0 decision at St. Joseph's-L.I. Making her first career start in goal, senior
Marni O'Shea (White Plains, N.Y.) made 11 saves for the Mount.
Although the Dolphins were outshot 13-0 in the first half, O'Shea kept the Golden Eagles of the board and sent the two teams into the intermission scoreless after making five saves for the Mount.
The first goal of the game and the game winning tally came of the foot of Victoria Hassett for St. Joseph's early on in the second half. The goal came at the 46:47 mark and started a string of five goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Hassett tallied twice for the Golden Eagles over that stretch.
O'Shea made six more saves in the second half to finish with her career-high total. The Golden Eagles used a pair of keepers with Michelle Gulino making the start and earning the victory.
St. Joseph's-L.I. finished the contest with 30 shots against just one for the Dolphins.
Sarah Colletti (Mansfield, Mass.) finished the afternoon with the only shot for Mount Saint Vincent.
The Golden Eagles took the only three corner kicks in the contest on Saturday and fouls in the match were called 4-1 against St. Joseph's-L.I.
The loss sends Mount Saint Vincent to a 2-7 overall record and a 0-3 mark in the Skyline Conference. The Mount will look to bounce back on Monday afternoon when they play host to NYU-POLY. Kick-off with the Blue Jays at Fleming Field in Yonkers is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
