St. Joseph's Final Stats
Brooklyn, N.Y. – Competing in a non-conference tri-match at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team dropped a pair of contests by a score of 3-1. The Dolphins fell to Bryn Athyn by scores of 15-25, 11-25, 25-17 and 16-25 before falling to the host Bears by scores of 20-25, 25-12, 19-25 and 24-26.
Kristine DeMasi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a strong day for the Mount after recording double-figure kills in each match.
In the opener against Bryn Athyn, DeMasi paced the Mount with 10 kills. She finished the day with a .097 hitting percentage and also chipped in with six digs and a service ace. Senior
Jessica Williams (Cornwall, N.Y.) added six kills and seven digs for the Dolphins in the contest. She also added three service aces against the Lions.
Maureen Metzner (Mineola, N.Y.) led the team with 10 digs in the opener on Saturday and also contributed four kills and a match-high and career-high eight service aces. Junior setter
Erin MacBride (Merrick, N.Y.) led all players in the match with 22 assists to go along with three kills and five digs.
Bryn Athyn was led by Kaitlyn Brock who finished with 17 kills and Kara Cowley who added 12 winners. The duo combined for 29 of the team's 41 kills in the match. Cathleen Curry posted a double-double with 15 assists and 11 digs, while Brooke Blair led the team with 19 helpers.
Overall the Lions posted 41 kills to 25 for the Mount and lifted 53 digs against 42 for Mount Saint Vincent. The Dolphins did hold the edge in blocking with five total team blocks. Freshman
Sungji Clarke (Tarrytown, N.Y.) posted a match and career-high four solo blocks for the Dolphins.
Against the Bears in the second match of the day, DeMasi was again the team leader in offense with 14 kills and a .351 hitting percentage. The junior outside hitter committed just a single error in 37 attempts against St. Joseph's. She also added an ace and eight digs.
Williams also turned in a strong performance against the Bears with 10 kills and a .318 hitting percentage. Williams wrapped up the match with five digs and a pair of assists for the Dolphins. Metzner posted six winners for the Mount and added eight digs and four service aces.
MacBride closed out Saturday's action with a double-double against St. Joseph's after leading the team with 28 assists and a team-high 17 digs. She also led all players in the match with five service aces.
Kim Matthews and Megan Moran paced the Bears with 19 and 14 kills respectively. Sabrina Cornia handed out a match-high 32 assists, while Nicole Rios lifted a team-high 16 digs.
St. Joseph's held a slim edge in kills in the match at 45-41 and lifted 65 digs to 51 for the Mount. Both teams had success in serving with Mount Saint Vincent totaling 13 aces and the Bears finishing with 11.
Following the results on Saturday, the Mount stands at 9-17 overall on the season. The Dolphins will look to get back on track on Monday night when they travel to NJCU. Match time in Jersey City, N.J. is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
