Old Westbury, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team closed out the 2011 season on Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 road loss at Old Westbury. Senior
Kara McNish (Hawthorne, N.J.) finished the season with an 11 save performance in net for the Dolphins.
The Panthers wasted little time getting on the board with the eventual game winning tally on Saturday, scoring in the first minute of play. Jordan Schildt opened the scoring at the 52 second mark of the match after finishing off a feed on a corner kick from Jennifer Kupfer.
Mount Saint Vincent would settle in for the remainder of the half after the quick strike, holding the Panthers off the board until the 24
th minute when Samantha Clancy made it 2-0 heading into halftime.
Old Westbury would open the second half with a flurry of goals and would put seven tallies on the board in the final 45 minutes. Stephanie Maybie scored twice inside of a two minute stretch and Clancy scored in the 66
th minute to close out a three goal spurt in a four minute stretch to break the game open.
Maybie, Clancy and JoAnna Kettell each scored twice for the Panthers as Old Westbury had five different players find the scoring column in the game. Kettell led the team with six points after also adding a pair of assists.
McNish finished the contest with her 11 saves, including eight in the second half. She closed the season by making at least 10 saves in six of the Mount's final seven contests. Caitlin Thomas earned the win for Old Westbury after making a pair of saves.
For the game, Mount Saint Vincent was outshot 38-2, with Samantha Fiorvanti (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) and
Gabriella Astorino (Warwick, N.Y.) each getting off a shot for the Dolphins. Old Westbury took all eight corner kicks in the game and each team was whistled for three fouls.
Mount Saint Vincent closes out the 2011 season with a 3-10-1 overall record and a 1-6-1 mark in the Skyline Conference.
