Riverdale, N.Y. – Junior Jessica Williams (Cornwall, N.Y.) totaled 20 kills and classmate Renee Reynes (Bronx, N.Y.) lifted 47 digs over a pair of Skyline Conference Women's Volleyball victories on Sunday. The Dolphins downed Maritime 3-0 by set scores of 25-8, 25-14 and 25-15, before picking up a hard fought 3-1 win over Purchase by scores of 21-25, 25-23, 25-21 and 25-17.
In the opener against Maritime, Williams led nine different Mount Saint Vincent players with a kill after totaling 10 against the Privateers. She hit .381 in the tilt, committing just two attack errors and also chipped in with 10 digs in the win.
Morgane Booker (East Providence, R.I.) also had a strong match against Maritime, posting eight kills and posting a .444 hitting percentage. She also collected a pair of aces and seven digs.
Sophomore setter Erin MacBride (Merrick, N.Y.) led all players with 16 assists in the match to go along with four of the Dolphins' 12 service aces. Reynes finished off the first match of the day by leading the match with 17 defensive digs.
Overall against Maritime, the Dolphins hit .274 as a team, finishing with 36 kills against just 10 errors. The Dolphins allowed only 11 Maritime kills and also picked up 54 digs to 47 for the visitors.
After cruising past Maritime in their first match o the day, the Dolphins battled Purchase for a hard fought four set win to earn the sweep on the day. After dropping the first set to the Panthers, Mount Saint Vincent battled back from 16-9 down in the third set to secure the 2-1 match advantage and momentum in the match.
Williams was again the team leader in kills with 10 more winners against the Panthers. She has now posted double-figures in kills three straight matches, including a season-high 14 on Friday against Sage. She also closed out her second double-double of the day with 10 more digs.
Kristine DeMasi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) posted nine winners against Purchase and also added 12 digs. Booker picked up seven more kills for the Dolphins and also totaled three total blocks, including a pair of solos.
Reynes was again solid in the back row for Mount Saint Vincent with a match-high 30 digs in addition to a pair of kills and five assists. Bridget Leonard (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) led the way in helpers in match number two with 25 and also added three aces and seven winners.
Against Purchase, Mount Saint Vincent finished with 47 kills to 34 for the Panthers and lifted 81 digs in the match. Purchase did post five total team blocks to three for the Dolphins.
The sweep on Sunday pushes Mount Saint Vincent over .500 on the season at 6-5 overall and to 3-2 in Skyline Conference play. Winners of five of their last six, the Dolphins will be back in action on Monday night at Sarah Lawrence. The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
