New Rochelle, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team picked up its second straight win on Tuesday night with a 3-0 win at the College of New Rochelle. The Dolphins won the match by scores of 25-10, 25-20 and 25-18 to move to within a match of .500 overall on the season. Sophomore Kristine DeMasi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) paced the Dolphins with eight kills and 14 digs.
DeMasi continued her solid sophomore campaign on Tuesday after hitting .333 for the match. It marks the second straight match she has hit better then .300, as she committed just one attack error in 21 attempts. DeMasi also led the team with 14 defensive digs and five service aces.
Freshman Kaitlyn Gaynor (Island Park, N.Y.) finished the night with six kills for the Dolphins and posted a .357 hitting percentage. She added four assists on the night and seven digs. Kallie Maglione (Ridgefield Park, N.J.) also recorded six kills for the Dolphins to go along with four digs and an ace.
Senior Irma Nepomuceno (Bronx, N.Y.) was one of three Dolphins to lift double-figure digs on the night, posting 13 to go along with four service aces and five kills. She joined Designa Correra (Bronx, N.Y.) who also finished up with 13 digs. Sophomore setter Erin MacBride (Merrick, N.Y.) also had a solid all-around match, collecting five kills, seven digs and handing out a team-high 16 assists.
For the match, the Dolphins hit .257 as a team and committed just 12 attack errors in 80 attempts. The Mount also finished with 11 service aces and three total team blocks. The Dolphins finished the night with 58 digs.
The win moves Mount Saint Vincent to 3-4 overall on the season heading into its home opener against John Jay on Thursday night. The match with the Bloodhounds is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Peter Jay Sharp Center.
