Final Stats

Purchase, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's soccer team dropped its second straight Skyline Conference contest on Wednesday with a 2-0 loss to Old Westbury. The Dolphins managed just two shots in the game, but junior goalkeeper Kara McNish (Hawthorne, N.J.) kept the Mount close with 10 saves between the pipes.

Old Westbury held a 9-1 edge in shots in the first half, but four saves from McNish in the opening 45 minutes kept the game scoreless at the intermission. The Panthers would not be able to break through until Cassandra Esposito scored the eventual game winner at the 58:31 mark of the match.

Esposito would pick up her second goal of the match and her fifth of the season just under five minutes later when she took a pass from Kelsey Durkot and deposited inside the right post for a 2-0 lead.

Old Westbury would keep the pressure on for much of the second half as it outshot the Mount 12-1 in the period. For the match the Panthers held a 21-2 edge in shots and took the only six corner kicks of the afternoon.

McNish made six saves in the second half, including two from inside the six yard box to keep the Dolphins close. McNish has now made double-figure saves in three contests this season, including each of the last two. Her counterpart in the match, Chynna Pitlock, earned the win and made one stop.

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 1-5 overall on the season and to 0-2 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will look to pickup their first league win of the season on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Purchase. Kick-off with the Panthers is scheduled for noon.
