Bronx, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team snapped a four match
losing streak on Thursday night with a 3-0 sweep at Lehman. The Dolphins took the match by set scores of 25-21, 25-14 and 25-17. Freshman Morgane Booker (East Providence, R.I.) paced the Mount with seven kills on the night.
Booker hit an impressive .357 on the night, converting her seven kills in 14 attacks while making just two attack errors. Booker also added an ace, a dig and a block solo against the Lightning.
Sophomore Kristine DeMasi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also had a strong night with six kills and a .312 hitting percentage. DeMasi also finished the match with three service aces and five defensive digs. Irma Nepomuceno (Bronx, N.Y.) led the team with four aces on the night to go along with three kills and seven digs.
Second year setter Erin MacBride (Merrick, N.Y.) handed out 16 assists in the winning effort and also chipped in with four digs. Bridget Leonard (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) came off the bench to finish with seven helpers.
The Lightning were paced by Besa Zabelaj and Vanessa Brown who posted three kills apiece, while Lisa Jagdea finished with 10 assists and six digs.
For the match, Mount Saint Vincent finished with 30 kills to just 15 for Lehman and lifted a total of 34 digs to 33 for the Lightning. The Dolphins finished the match with 15 total aces. Renee Reynes (Bronx, N.Y.) led all players on the night with 12 digs.
The win improves Mount Saint Vincent to 2-4 overall on the season. The Dolphins will look to stay in the win column when they return to the floor on September 21 at New Rochelle. The match with the Blue Angels is slated for 7:00 p.m.
