Jersey City, N.J. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team dropped its second
straight match to open the 2010 season when it fell at New Jersey City University by a score of 9-2 on Tuesday afternoon. Freshman Quetzaili Ramirez (Bayside, N.Y.) and sophomore
Brittany Kehoe (Stony Point, N.Y.) each picked up their first goal of the season in the contest.
The Gothic Knight jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage on Tuesday, scoring two goals inside of 30 seconds in the seventh minute of the match. NJCU would carry an 8-1 lead into halftime after Ramirez found the back of the net at the 38:58 mark of the match for her first career tally.
Kehoe would give the Dolphins back-to-back markers at the 62:14 mark of the contest when she converted a giveaway by the NJCU defense to finish off her first of the season and the second of her career. NJCU would close out the scoring in the 74th minute when Ashley Cimha scored her first of the campaign.
Julia Caseres had an eight point afternoon for NJCU with a hat trick to go along with two assists. Jennifer Albuja scored a pair of goals on the afternoon and added a helper in the winning effort.
Junior goalkeeper Kara McNish (Hawthorne, N.J.) made three stops in the contest for the Dolphins, while NJCU used a pair of keepers. Nicole Hernandez made five stops for the home squad after coming on at halftime.
For the match, NJCU outshot the Dolphins 17-8 while the Dolphins took the only two corner kicks of the afternoon. Fouls in the match were whistled 8-7 against NJCU.
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 0-2 overall on the season. The Dolphins will look to pick up their first win of the season on Saturday when they play host to the College of Staten Island.
