Brooklyn, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer squad dropped its first road contest
of the season on Thursday night after falling at Medgar Evers by a score of 2-0. Junior goalkeeper
Javier Mandujano (Norwalk, Conn.) made three saves in goal for the Dolphins.
After the two teams played a scoreless first half, the Cougars picked up the eventual game winner when Thierno Bah converted a crossing pass at 48:55 for a 1-0 advantage. Medgar Evers would add an insurance marker in the final 10 minutes on a Sharard Sullivan goal in the 83rd minute.
Mount Saint Vincent would have just one shot in the game, as it was outshot on the night 12-1. Medgar Evers took all five corner kicks in the match, while fouls in the tilt were whistled 10 apiece.
Mandujano played his second strong contest between the pipes for the Dolphins with his three saves. His counterpart, Christopher Welsh, stopped the only shot he saw to post the shutout and move to 3-1 on the season.
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 0-1-1 overall on the season. The Dolphins will return to action again on Tuesday night when they take on Sarah Lawrence. Kick-off on September 14 is slated for 8:00 p.m.
