BROOKLYN, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team split a pair of Skyline Conference matches on Saturday at Polytechnic. The Dolphins defeated Bard 3-0 by scores of 30-17, 30-17, and 30-15, but were defeated by Polytechnic 3-0 by scores of 30-23, 30-25, and 31-29. Seniors
Katie Balch (Peekskill, NY) and
Meghan Flaherty (Yonkers, NY) each totaled 17 kills over the two matches.
Against Polytechnic, Balch finished off 10 kills and added five digs for the Dolphins. Edeana Martinez (Bronx, NY) also had 10 kills for the Mount against the Fighting Blue Jays. Flaherty had a six kill performance in the match and freshman Christina Pierre (Bronx, NY) added nine winners for the Mount.
Bridget Leonard (Poughkeepsie, NY) posted 16 assists in the match to go along with three service aces, while Irma Nepomuceno (Bronx, NY) added 14 helpers and nine digs. Lisa O'Shea (White Plains, NY) led the team in digs with 16, while Tara Mead (Pearl River, NY) added five digs in the contest.
Against Bard, Flaherty led the offensive charge with 11 kills and six service aces. Balch contributed seven kills against the Raptors.
Leonard continued her solid sophomore campaign with 15 assists, while Nepomuceno posted seven assists in the game and eight digs. O'Shea contributed five digs against Bard.
With the split, the Dolphins stand at 14-14 overall and 4-5 in Skyline play.
