RIVERDALE, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team scored a 3-0 win over Sarah Lawrence on Thursday night on Senior Night. Scores of the match were 30-22, 30-16, and 30-9 in favor of the Dolphins. Senior
Meghan Flaherty (Yonkers, NY) led the team with 13 kills in her final home regular season match.
Flaherty had a strong all around match with her 13 kills and she also added six digs. Her first kill of the match was the 500th of her career. Classmate Katie Balch (Peekskill, NY) posted six winners in the match and tied for the team lead with seven digs. Senior Edeana Martinez (Bronx, NY) contributed nine kills against the Gryphons.
Bridget Leonard (Poughkeepsie, NY) also had a strong match for the Mount, as she posted 31 assists and led the team with six service aces. Irma Nepomuceno (Bronx, NY) added five assists to the winning effort.
Lisa O'Shea (White Plains, NY) matched Balch with seven digs to lead the team and Martinez and freshman Christina Pierre (Bronx, NY) picked up one total block each.
Prior to the match Balch, Flaherty, and Martinez were honored for their contributions to the program over the past four years. Thursday marked the final regular season home game for the volleyball class of 2007.
The win improves the Dolphins' record to 13-13 overall and 7-1 in the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference. Mount Saint Vincent will return to Skyline Conference play on Saturday when they take on Bard and Polytechnic at Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, NY.
