Sunday afternoon by a score of 3-1 in its Skyline Conference finale. The Mount fell in the tightly contested match by set scores of 22-25, 25-16, 15-25 and 28-26. The Dolphins had four players in the match record career-highs, including
Bridget Leonard (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) who handed out 33 assists.
Leonard finished the afternoon with five kills and a .286 hitting percentage for the Dolphins. She also posted a match-high eight service aces in the contest and was one of five Mount Saint Vincent players to record double-figure digs with her 15. Sunday's double-double marked the eighth of the season for Leonard. Her 33 helpers bested her previous career mark of 32 and her mark for digs equaled her career-high as well.
Sophomore Maureen Metzner (Mineola, N.Y.) also had a career match for the Mount, posting career-highs with five kills and 21 digs. She also chipped in with a pair of aces for the Dolphins. Senior Lisa O'Shea (White Plains, N.Y.) also posted a career-high on Sunday with her 14 kill performance. Her mark for winners bested her previous career mark of 13 which was set earlier this season against Lehman. O'Shea also contributed seven digs in the match.
Irma Nepomuceno (Bronx, N.Y.) chipped in with eight kills for the Mount to go along with 10 digs, while Jessica Williams (Cornwall, N.Y.) posted five winners and 15 digs. Sophomore Renee Reynes (Bronx, N.Y.) led all players in the match with 32 digs.
Sage was paced by Sarah Peacock who posted a match-high 17 kills in the contest and Nicole Corbett who posted 12 winners and five total blocks. Kelsey Wilson lifted a team-high 17 digs for the Gators and Kristyn Buonincontra finished with a match-high 39 assists.
Overall in the match Mount Saint Vincent hit .160 and finished with 42 kills to 39 for the Gators. The Dolphins also finished with 11 aces in the contest and five total blocks. Williams recorded all five total blocks for the Mount, setting a new career best with five solo blocks in the match.
The loss dropped Mount Saint Vincent back to .500 overall on the season at 12-12 and to 4-5 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will round out the regular season on Friday with a tri-match at Baruch. Mount Saint Vincent will play Centenary at 6:45 p.m. before tussling with the host Bearcats at 8:30 p.m.
