Dolphins Run Winning Streak to Five with 3-0 Win over College of New Rochelle

Bridget Leonard finishes with 16 service aces

 RIVERDALE, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team ran its winning streak to five matches on Thursday night with an impressive 3-0 win over the College of New Rochelle. The Dolphins took the match by scores of 30-8, 30-7, and 30-13 at Hayes Gymnasium. Sophomore setter Bridget Leonard (Poughkeepsie, NY) had a match high 16 service aces to lead the Mount.

Reigning Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference Player of the Week Edeana Martinez (Bronx, NY) led the squad on Thursday with six kills. She moved her team lead in that category to 54 on Thursday. Martinez also finished up the match with a solo block, giving her 25 total blocks on the season.

Leonard finished with 16 aces on the evening against just two service errors. She took the team lead in that category with 26 on the year. Leonard also contributed eight assists in the match, giving her 114 on the year. Fellow setter Irma Nepomuceno (Bronx, NY) also had a solid match, leading the team with 10 assists.

With the win, the Dolphins reach the .500 mark for the first time this season and improve to 5-5 overall and 3-0 in the HVWAC. Mount Saint Vincent will be back in action on Saturday when it opens Skyline Conference play and hosts Maritime and Old Westbury. The tri-match begins at 11:00 a.m. at Hayes Gymnasium.
