Skyline Conference matches on Saturday, defeating Farmingdale State 3-1 and then falling to Old Westbury 3-1. Scores of the Farmingdale match were 25-14, 21-25, 25-19 and 25-18 in favor of the Mount, while the Old Westbury scores were 16-25, 25-12, 15-25 and 17-25 in favor of the home standing Panthers.
In the win against Farmingdale State Christina Pierre (Bronx, NY) led the squad with 11 kills and a .417 hitting percentage. Freshman Jessica Williams (Cornwall, NY) continued her solid rookie campaign with six kills in the match to go along with seven digs and four service aces.
Rookie Renee Reynes (Bronx, NY) posted 28 digs in the contest to go along with a service ace for the Dolphins. Irma Nepomuceno (Bronx, NY) also reached double digits in digs with 13 and also finished with three kills and three service aces.
Against Old Westbury, Pierre posted a match-high 14 kills and a block assist. Junior Lisa O'Shea (White Plains, NY) chipped in with 12 winners in the contest and well as four defensive digs and a pair of solo blocks.
Reynes shattered her career-high with 55 digs in the match and also recorded a service ace against the Panthers. Nepomuceno posted three more winners in the second match and also finished the contest with two service aces and 10 digs.
The split on Saturday moves Mount Saint Vincent's overall record to 9-5 and its Skyline Conference to 2-3 on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Wednesday night when they host Purchase in a Skyline Conference match. The match is schedule to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Hayes Gymnasium.
