Dolphins Split Two Skyline Conference Matches

Nepomuceno posts 12 kills, 30 digs over two matches

Irma Nepomuceno posted a career-high 20 digs against Old Westbury.
Conference matches on Saturday afternoon at St. Joseph's-L.I. The Dolphins downed Old Westbury by set scores of 25-17, 23-25, 14-25, 25-8 and 25-10 in their first match of the day before falling to the host Golden Eagles by scores of 12-25, 15-25 and 22-25.

Against Old Westbury Lisa O'Shea (White Plains, N.Y.) led the offensive attack with 10 kills and a .368 hitting percentage to go along with four digs and a pair of total blocks. Junior Irma Nepomuceno (Bronx, N.Y.) finished the contest with nine winners and a career-high 20 digs for the Dolphins. She rounded out a solid all around match with three assists and a service ace.

Jessica Williams (Cornwall, N.Y.) finished off eight kills for the Dolphins in the win and also chipped in with four aces, nine digs and two total blocks. Bridget Leonard (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) contributed a double-double in the match with a match-high 25 assists to go along with 10 digs. She also finished with five kills and a match-high six aces. Sophomore Renee Reynes (Bronx, N.Y.) lifted 31 digs to lead all players in the match and also posted three aces.

In the second match of the day, the Dolphins were paced by Williams who recorded nine kills against the Golden Eagles to go along with four digs. Nepomuceno completed a strong day against St. Joseph's with three winners, an ace and 10 more digs. She finished the day with 12 kills over the two matches and 30 digs.

Leonard recorded five more kills, lifted a pair of digs and handed out 19 assists. Through 13 matches Leonard is fourth on the team in kills and leads the squad in assists with a per set average of 5.42.

Reynes recorded a team-high 18 digs for the Dolphins and leads the team in that category on the season with 234. Freshman Kristine DeMasi (Bay Ridge, N.Y.) matched her career-high in kills in the match with four and also chipped in with an ace and three digs.

The split on Saturday moves the Dolphins overall record to 6-7 on the season and its league mark to 1-2. Mount Saint Vincent will be back on the court again on Tuesday when it hosts non-conference rival Sarah Lawrence. The match at Hayes Gymnasium is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
