NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team won a non-conference match 3-0 on Monday night at the College of New Rochelle. Scores of the sets were 25-16, 25-14 and 25-12 in favor of the Mount. The Dolphins recorded a team hitting percentage of .324 in the match, led by
Christina Pierre's (Bronx, NY) 10 kills.
Pierre led the Mount with her 10 kills which tied a season-high for the sophomore. She posted a .350 hitting percentage to go along with five total blocks. Pierre is the team leader for the Dolphins in all three categories in 2008. She holds a .231 hitting percentage, 64 kills and 16 total blocks.
Freshman Jessica Williams (Cornwall, NY) also had a strong match for the Mount on Monday, recording seven kills and posting a .333 hitting percentage. Williams also posted four service aces in the match. Junior Lisa O'Shea (White Plains, NY) hit .286 in the match, recording six winners.
A pair of freshmen were also major contributors in the win on Monday for the Dolphins. Krystal Miranda (Putnam Valley, NY) led the way with 21 assists to go along with two service aces and three kills, while Renee Reynes (Bronx, NY) posted 20 digs.
Overall in the match, Mount Saint Vincent recorded 31 kills on 71 total attacks and committed just eight attack errors. The Dolphins posted nine service aces in the contest and recorded an impressive .533 hitting percentage in the third set.
The win moves Mount Saint Vincent's overall record to 6-4 on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Saturday, September 27 at Lehman. The road match with the Lightning is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
