JAMAICA, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team won its third straight match on Wednesday night, as it cruised past York (NY) by a score of 3-0. Scores of the sets went 25-18, 25-14 and 25-19 in favor of the Dolphins.
Bridget Leonard (Poughkeepsie, NY) had a strong match for the Mount, posting 12 assists and six service aces in the win.
Leonard led the team in both assists and aces and also posted a kill and three defensive digs on the night. Sophomore Christina Pierre (Bronx, NY) led the offensive attack with five kills, while classmate Irma Nepomuceno (Bronx, NY) collected four winners in the match.
Six Dolphins recorded at least three defensive digs in the contest, with freshman Renee Reynes (Bronx, NY) leading the team with six. Caryl Garcia (Yonkers, NY) and Lisa O'Shea (White Plains, NY) each finished with four digs in the match for the Mount. Pierre also had a strong match on the defensive end, finishing the night with four total blocks to lead the team.
The win improves Mount Saint Vincent's overall record to 4-1 on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Saturday afternoon when they travel to William Patterson. The non-conference match is scheduled to begin at noon.
