Roxanne Predergast (Center Moriches, NY/Westhampton Beach HS) combined for 19 kills, and senior
Monique Lopez (Bronx, NY/Aquinas HS) added 16 assists as the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team broke a three-match losing streak with a 3-0 win over Sarah Lawrence. With the win, the Dolphins improve to 7-13 overall and remain in first place in the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) with a 4-0 record.
Predergast and Dauphinais were instrumental during the first two games of the match when the Mount twice had to fend off a pesky Sarah Lawrence squad. During the first game, the Mount led 14-9 before reeling off nine straight points for a commanding lead. The Mount won the first game, 30-15. The second game proved to be the most exciting one as Sarah Lawrence jumped out to a 17-12 lead. Mount Saint Vincent mounted a comeback and forced extra points, ultimately winning 33-31. The third and final game was all Mount Saint Vincent as they dominated play, winning 30-9. The Dolphins have yet to lose a single game in HVWAC play.
Dauphinais finished the match with 12 kills and five service aces, while Predergast finished with seven kills and eight digs.
The win marked a good start of a six-match home-stand for the Mount that will continue on Monday, Oct. 10 when the Dolphins host Skyline Conference foe, Maritime College at 7:00 p.m.
