Women's Volleyball wins thrilling 3-2 marathon over Baruch

Martinez registers 16 kills, Mead/Predergast combine for 35 digs as Dolphins improve to 10-7

(New York, NY) - Junior Edeana Martinez (Bronx, NY/St. Catherine) registered a team-high 16 kills and senior Roxanne Predergast (Center Moriches, NY/Westhampton Beach HS) and freshman Lisa O'Shea combined for 35 total digs as the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team won a thrilling 3-2 marathon over host Baruch College on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Mount improves to 10-7 for the 2006 season.

The match featured two teams playing in top form who both had opportunities to win, but the Dolphins edged the Bearcats 16-14 during the fifth and deciding game to clinch the match. Prior to the exciting finish, Baruch won the opening game, 30-24, but Mount Saint Vincent rallied to win the next two, 30-15 and 30-26. Baruch stormed back to win the fourth game, 30-9, setting up the thrilling fifth and final game.


Also enjoying solid efforts for the Mount were freshman Michelle Dedvukaj (Bronx, NY/St. Catherine), who registered eight kills and 10 digs, and setters Jessica Thorn (Farmingdale, NJ/Colts Neck HS) and Bridget Leonard (Poughkeepsie, NY/Lourdes) combined for 32 assists.


Mount Saint Vincent has won three of its last four matches and travels to St. Joseph's (LI) for its Skyline Conference regular season finale on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 7:00 p.m.
