Roxanne Predergast (Center Moriches, NY/Westhampton Beach HS) had one of her finest outings of the 2006 season as the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team earned a tri-match split with Old Westbury and Polytechnic on Saturday, falling 3-0 to the Panthers and then rebounding to stop Polytechnic, 3-1. With the split, the Mount is now 8-6 overall and the loss to Old Westbury drops them to 3-4 in Skyline Conference play.
Old Westbury (15-6, 5-1 Skyline Conference) dominated the opener, 13-30, 27-30, and 26-30 in a match that had huge Skyline Conference post-season implications, however, just minutes later, Dedvukaj led the Mount to a 30-21, 30-18, 21-30, 30-20 win over Polytechnic that gave the Dolphins their eighth win of the season. Dedvukaj was incredible, registering 13 kills and nine digs, while Predergast earned a double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs. Predergast also had an outstanding match during the opener, registering a career-high 23 digs.
Also for the Mount, junior Katie Balch (Peekskill, NY/Peekskill HS) had a season-high nine kills to go with seven digs during the opener against Old Westbury, and juniors Meghan Flaherty (Yonkers, NY/Yonkers HS) and Edeana Martinez (Bronx, NY/St. Catherine) combined for 15 kills against Polytechnic.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 10 when they host the College of Saint Elizabeth at 7:30 p.m.
