Women’s Volleyball drops second straight match, 3-0 to Skyline Conference rival Rams

Martinez: Four kills, four blocks; Dedvukaj: Eight digs; Dolphins meet Old Westbury/Polytechnic in Saturday tri-match

(Riverdale, NY) – Junior Edeana Martinez (Bronx, NY/St. Catherine) had a team-high four kills and added four solo blocks, and freshman Michelle Dedvukaj (Bronx, NY/St. Catherine) added team highs in digs (8) and service aces (3), but the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team lost its second straight match, 3-0 to Farmingdale State on Monday night during a match played at Mount Saint Vincent. With the loss, the Dolphins drop to 7-5 for the 2006 season, including a 3-3 record in Skyline Conference play.

Farmingdale swept the match with scores of 30-22, 30-19, and 30-18 to improve to 13-2, 3-0 Skyline Conference for the 2006 season.

Mount Saint Vincent had a solid defensive evening as has been the case through much of the 2006 season, but Monday night was a struggle to generate much offense as the Mount hit .039 as a team and registered only 14 total kills. Dedvujak, who has been a revelation on the outside had another fine match, as did Martinez, but Farmingdale's huge front proved enjoy a stronger evening.

Also enjoying solid outings for the Mount were seniors Jessica Thorn (Farmingdale, NJ/Colt's Neck HS) and Roxanne Predergast (Center Moriches, NY/Westhampton Beach HS), who registered three kills apiece, and junior Meghan Flaherty (Yonkers, NY/Yonkers HS), who added five solo blocks.

For Farmingdale State, junior Amanda Sperling had 12 kills, while senior Gina Moscato added five kills and eight digs.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 7 when they face Old Westbury in a crucial Skyline Conference match at 10:00 a.m. and will also face Polytechnic as part of a tri-meet at Old Westbury.
