Bridget Leonard (Poughkeepsie, NY/Lourdes) added 15 assists and 11 service aces as the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team won its fourth straight match, 3-0 over Centenary during a match played at Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday night. With the win, the Mount improves to 7-3 overall, and 3-1 in Skyline Conference play as their push towards their first-ever Skyline Conference playoff berth continues.
Mount Saint Vincent dominated the three games, 30-16, 30-9, and 30-21 en route to their third straight win against Skyline Conference competition. The match also proved that there would be no let-down after the Mount's remarkable 3-1 win over USMMA-Kings Point on Monday night.
Martinez made sure that no let-down would happen, registering four kills and two blocks during the first game alone as the Dolphins stormed out to a 15-6 lead en route to the win. Her presence at the net, combined with an outstanding performance by Roxanne Predergast (Center Moriches, NY/Westhampton Beach HS) on the outside, gave the Mount a 1-2 punch that combined for 14 of the Dolphins' 30 kills. Leonard was fantastic once again, particularly on the serve as her 11 aces were a career high. Six Leonard aces came during the second game alone.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Friday, Sept. 29 when they travel to face defending Skyline Conference Champion, Stevens Institute of Technology at 7:00 p.m.
