YONKERS, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team was defeated by a score of 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Tibbetts Brook Park by Medgar Evers. The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 1-8 overall on the season.
The Cougars jumped out to an early lead in the contest, tallying four times in the first 25:00. Medgar Evers would take a 5-0 lead into halftime before adding a pair of insurance goals in the second half. Shakera Ho-Sang had a big afternoon for the visitors, as she scored the first three goals of the contest.
Annamaria Buzzetta (Brooklyn, NY) made her second career start in goal for the Dolphins and made a pair of saves in just under 24:00 of action. She was lifted due to injury in the game and her replacement, Jen Kushner (Mastic, NY), made four stops. Kerissa Harris made six saves in the game for Medgar Evers.
Overall in the game, Mount Saint Vincent was out shot 18-6 but the Dolphins held the edge in corner kicks 5-2. Fouls in the match were called 12-9 against the Cougars. The game was halted with just under 9:30 to play due to lightning in the area.
Mount Saint Vincent will look to snap its six game losing streak on Saturday when it returns to Skyline Conference play against St. Joseph's (LI). The home game being played at Purchase is scheduled to kick-off at 1:00 p.m.
