Dolphins Fall To St. Elizabeth In Women’s Soccer

Marsico nets first career goal

YONKERS, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team was defeated by the College of Saint Elizabeth on Wednesday by a score of 6-1. Freshman Maria Marsico (Chappaqua, NY) netted her first career goal for the Dolphins in the contest.

The Eagles jumped out in front on Wednesday at the 22:07 mark when Melinda Levendusky scored her first of the afternoon. Levendusky had a huge game for St. Elizabeth, finishing the game with five goals and an assist for 11 points.

Marsico tied the score for the Dolphins at 24:12 on her first career marker. She took a pass from Kat Gentsch (Staten Island, NY) inside the box. Marsico took the pass from the wing and finished a pretty shot inside the short post to tie the score at 1-1.

The Eagles would counter with Levendusky's second of the day in the 39th minute to give St. Elizabeth the lead for good. The Eagles would go on to score five unanswered goals to secure the win.

Overall, Mount Saint Vincent was out shot by a 17-7 margin, while corner kicks in the contest were even at six apiece. Dolphins' keeper Jen Kaufmann (Wharton, NJ) made six saves and her counterpart Michelle Stephens made five stops.

The loss drops the Mount's overall record to 1-3 on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action again over the weekend when they take part in the two day William Smith Heron Cup. The Mount will open the event against DeSales on September 13. Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
