YONKERS, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team dropped its season opener to Fontbonne (MO) on Saturday night by a score of 12-0. A pair of freshman goalies combined to make 12 saves on the night for the Mount, with freshman
Jen Kaufmann (Wharton, NY) making seven saves in her collegiate debut.
The Griffins jumped out to a 7-0 lead at halftime on Saturday night, with Lauren Bramel netting a hat trick in the opening frame. Tori Priess and Kendra Schilli also had big nights for Fontbonne, with each scoring a pair of goals. Jamie Matz and Kristen Ferguson each added a pair of assists for the visitors.
Amy Simon made just one save in the contest, the only shot Mount Saint Vincent had in the tilt. Kaufmann made seven saves for the Mount, while Jen Kushner (Mastic, NY) made five saves in the second half.
Overall in the game Fontbonne held a 32-1 advantage in shots on the night. The Griffins also took the edge in corner kicks 7-2, while fouls in the contest were even a five apiece.
At 0-1 on the season, Mount Saint Vincent will be back in action again on Wednesday at Division II St. Thomas Aquinas. Kick-off for the road contest is set for 6:30 p.m.
