Old Westbury, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team was downed on the
road Wednesday afternoon at Skyline rival Old Westbury by a score of 9-0. Freshman goalkeeper
Micelle Miller (Chester, Pa.) made a career-high 22 saves for the Dolphins on the afternoon.
The Panthers netted five goals in the first 12:00 of play on Wednesday and carried a 7-0 lead into halftime. Old Westbury added two more markers in the second half to secure the win. Courtney Dixon paced the Panthers with a hat trick, while Julianne Abel posted four points on a goal and a pair of assists.
Miller bested her previous career-high by 10 saves on Wednesday and has now made 73 stops on the season in six contests. Old Westbury used a pair of keepers with Melissa Romero making one save in the second half.
Overall in the contest, Old Westbury held a 52-1 advantage in shots and an 18-0 edge in corner kicks. Fouls in the contest were even at three apiece.
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 0-6 overall on the season and to 0-2 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be back on the pitch again on Saturday when they take on Purchase. Kick-off for the Skyline Conference match is set for 1:00 p.m. at Purchase.
