Sarah Colletti (Mansfield, Mass.) scored both Mount Saint Vincent goals, recording the first two markers of her career.
Medgar Evers jumped out to a 5-0 lead at halftime on the strength of a hat trick from Shakera Ho-Sang. She finished the game with nine points after recording four goals and assisting on another. Kerissa Harris also had a strong afternoon, recording a pair of goals, as six different Cougars found the back of the net.
Colletti got the Mount on the board with her first goal at the 59:45 mark after a nice feed from Oliva Cary (Weare, N.H.). Cray fed the ball inside the box, where Colletti found the upper right hand corner. Her second tally came at the 68:34 mark when a scramble in front of the goal resulted in a pass from Sindy Gonzalez and a tap in for Colletti. She now leads the team with five points on the season with two goals and an assist.
Mount Saint Vincent keeper Michelle Miller (Chester, Pa.) made 12 saves in the contest, while her counterpart Jasmine Gonzalez made three stops for the Cougars.
Overall in the game, Mount Saint Vincent was outshot 30-7 and the Cougars took all nine corner kicks on the afternoon. Fouls in the match were whistled 8-6 against Medgar Evers.
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 0-5 overall on the season. The Dolphins will return to Skyline Conference play on Wednesday when they travel to Old Westbury. Kick-off with the Panthers is set for 4:00 p.m.
