Raptors run past Dolphins, 2-0

Alessi makes nine saves

THROGGS NECK, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer squad dropped a 2-0 decision to Bard on Friday night. In the game played at Maritime College, senior goalkeeper Alexis Alessi (Oceanside, NY) made nine saves. The loss drops the Dolphins to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in the Skyline Conference.

Bard opened the scoring in the first half on a goal from Mozhdeh Zahedi at the 8:53 mark of the match. She took a pass down the middle from Rose Lee and finished the goal to the right side for the early one goal advantage and eventual game winner. The Lee, Zahedi duo struck again at the 22:23 mark to send Bard to a 2-0 lead at the half. This time Lee found Zahedi on a run down the right side, she flipped the ball to the center and Zahedi found the top right corner for her second of the half.

Although the teams played a scoreless second half, the Raptors out shot the Mount 9-0 in the frame. Alessi made eight of her nine saves in the second half. Bard keeper Elizabeth Herber was forced to make just one save in the game.

For the game, the Bard held the advantage in shots14-3 and in corner kicks at 2-0. Fouls in the match were even at 7-7.

Mount Saint Vincent will be back in action Saturday afternoon when it travels to Farmingdale State. Kick-off against the Rams is set for 2:00 p.m.
