Russell Sage 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon at the University of Albany. Senior midfielder
Cynthia Osorio (Oceanside, NY) scored the Dolphins' lone goal, while
Alexis Alessi (Rockville Centre, NY) made 11 stops in goal.
The Gators took a 2-1 lead into the halftime intermission on goals from Lisa Reles and Dana Porcello. Osorio scored in the final minute of the half to cut the Gator lead in half and keep the Dolphins close after the first 45:00.
Russell Sage added two more goals in the second half to earn the final 4-1 victory. Reles tallied her second of the game with just over 20:00 remaining in the contest and Nicole Killeen added an insurance goal with just over 10:00 left in the game to send the Gators to the win.
Alessi played another strong game between the pipes for the Dolphins, stopping 11 shots, giving her 110 saves on the season. For the year, the senior goalkeeper has posted a .780 save percentage and a 2.82 goals against average.
Russell Sage held the advantage in shots for the game at 35-11 and in corner kicks at 9-4. Fouls in the match were called 6-5 against the Mount, while Russell Sage was offside 12 times in the contest.
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 5-6 overall on the season and to 2-2 in Skyline competition. The Dolphins return to the pitch on Sunday, October 14 when they host Yeshiva. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers.
