Freshman Brianne Horner netted her first career goal against Staten Island
morning by the College of Staten Island 6-1. Mount Saint Vincent freshman Brianne Horner (Malibu, Calif.) netted her first career goal in the second half for the Dolphins' lone tally of the contest.

Staten Island's Tina Chechel opened the scoring in the game with her first of three goals at the 17:44 mark of the first half. Chechel added two more goals in the contest and an assist to finish with seven points for the visitors.

Staten Island carried a 1-0 lead into halftime, but Horner's first career marker knotted the score 1-1 just under three minutes into the second half. She took a pass from classmate Sarah Colletti (Mansfield, Mass.) down the center and banged a shot off the post and into the back of the cage.

Staten Island responded with four quick goals over the next 11 minutes to secure the win. Chechel scored two over that stretch with Kelly Kenny and Lauren Neglia also adding markers. Christina Sgarlato closed out the scoring with under nine minutes left to send the visitors to the five goal victory.

Staten Island led the way in every statistical category in the contest. The visiting Dolphins held a 32-5 advantage in shots and a 6-0 edge in corner kicks. Fouls in the match were whistled at five apiece and Staten Island was offside 13 times to three for the Mount.

Mount Saint Vincent freshman goalkeeper Michelle Miller (Chester, Pa.) played a strong game in goal despite the final score. She made a career-high 12 saves. Staten Island keeper Mayda Perdomo made one stop in the contest to earn the win.

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 0-2 on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Tuesday when they travel to CCNY. Kick-off is set for 3:30 p.m. with the Beavers.
