(Hoboken, NJ) - Junior goalie
Alexis Alessi (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside HS) made eight spectacular saves keeping Mount Saint Vincent in the game for a stretch, but the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team lost its second straight game, 8-0 to Conference powerhouse Stevens on Wednesday night during a game played at Stevens. With the loss, Mount Saint Vincent is now 4-2 overall and 2-2 in Skyline Conference play.
Stevens jumped all over the Mount with Alessi making several saves on breakaways early to keep things close. However, the Ducks (6-2-3, 3-0 Skyline Conference) scored twice during the first 7:37 to jump ahead 2-0. From there, the rout was on as Stevens scored at 13:27 and 19:16 to make it 4-0 and took a 6-0 lead at halftime. A two-goal outburst during a 54-second span early in the second half made it 8-0.
Overall, Stevens outshot the Mount, 32-2. Despite allowing eight goals, the Dolphin defense actually played an excellent technical game, forcing the Ducks into 13 offsides fouls, but the Ducks speed ultimately prevailed.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Friday, Oct. 6 when they travel to HVWAC rival Marymount College.
