RIVERDALE, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team improved to 2-5 on the season with a 7-0 win over John Jay on Monday night.
Mike Hernandez (Ridgefield, NJ) scored four times for the Dolphins and
Zack Coppola (Staten Island, NY) collected two assists in the win.
Ricardo Gonzalez (Rockland, NY) scored the eventual game winner at the 8:44 mark of the match on a pass from Chris Herrera (Flushing, NY). From there Hernandez scored two straight to give the Mount a 3-0 advantage at the half.
Hernandez continued his big night with his third goal of the game at the 48:51 mark on a pass from Coppola. Following goals from Herrera and Garrett Cooke (North Kingston, RI), Hernandez closed out the scoring in the game with his fourth tally, again from Coppola.
Hernandez closed the night with eight points, while Herrera finished with a goal and an assist in the win.
Bill Raferty (Throggs Neck, NY) got the win in goal and made three saves. James Green (Waldwick, NJ) came on for the final 26:00 to record four saves.
The Dolphins will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Culinary Institute. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:00 pm at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers.
