Men’s Soccer Defeated By Bard

Samuel notches first career goal

PURCHASE, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team dropped a hard fought 3-1 decision to Bard on Wednesday night at Purchase. Freshman Mahabir Samuel (Bronx, NY) tallied his first career goal for the Mount in the second half.

Bard jumped out in front 1-0 on a goal from Jacob Hartog at the 21:25 mark of the first half. Samuel evened the score at 1-1 in the 61st minute for the Mount on Wednesday with his first goal of the season and of his career. J.R. Downey (Highland Falls, NY) assisted on the marker and now leads the team in points with five.

The Raptors secured the win with two goals in the second half. Narayan Khalsa netted the game winner for Bard at the 63:39 mark off a feed from Jonas Peterschild and Nick Hippensteel added an insurance marker in the 84th minute for the final 3-1 advantage.

Senior net minder Billy Raftery (Bronx, NY) took the loss for the Mount, but made 11 saves in goal. His counterpart from Bard, Deven Connolly, made 10 stops.

Overall in the contest Bard out shot Mount Saint Vincent 14-11. Corner kicks in the tilt went 8-4 to the Raptors and fouls in the match were whistled 13-11 against the home standing Dolphins. 

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent's overall record to 2-11 on the season and its Skyline Conference mark to 2-2. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Saturday when they travel to Farmingdale State. Kick-off with the Rams is scheduled for noon.
