defense allowed only six Mount Saint Vincent shots as the Mount fell 3-0 to Centenary on Saturday to stretch their winless streak to four consecutive games. All four of those losses have come to Skyline Conference opponents, eliminating the Mount from post-season contention.
After the Cyclones (5-8, 2-3 Skyline Conference) scored at 1:42 and 7:11 to go ahead, 2-0, the Mount defense settled down, as did freshman goalie William Raftery (Bronx, NY/Salesian HS). Making only his second career start, Raftery was simply brilliant between the pipes, stopping 15 shots and allowing only one goal after the 7:11 mark. Raftery was under siege all day as the Cyclones out-shot Mount Saint Vincent (3-6-1, 1-5-1 Skyline Conference) 32-6. Mount Saint Vincent, missing four of its top-six scorers due to injuries and suspensions, struggled on the offensive half the entire game.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Monday, Oct. 17 when they travel to Hoboken, NJ to face the defending Skyline Champion, Stevens. The game begins at 7:00 p.m.
