(Riverdale, NY) – Mount Saint Vincent sophomore Marco Chiarizia (Staten Island, NY/Msgr. Farrell) and junior Chris Herrera (Flushing, NY/St. Francis Prep) each scored during the final three minutes of play as the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team downed Yeshiva, 2-0, in a game played at Redmond-Cooke Field in Yonkers. The teams were scoreless for the first 87 minutes before Chris MacDonald (Farmingdale, NY/Nassau CC) found Chiarizia streaking down the left side, and Chiarizia scored his first goal of the season to give the Mount a 1-0 lead with three minutes left to play.

Two minutes later, Herrera tallied his first goal of the season, converting a beautiful feed from Zack Coppola (Staten Island, NY/Msgr. Farrell) to double the Mount's lead with only a minute left to play. The goals broke a scoreless streak of nearly 300 minutes as the Mount had been shut-out during two consecutive games before their outburst today. The Dolphins (2-3) also doubled their season's scoring total as they had only scored twice this season entering today's game.

The Mount dominated this game statistically, out-shooting Yeshiva (2-4), 37-4 and they attempted 10 corner kicks to Yeshiva's one corner kick. However the Dolphins struggled to figure out Maccabee goalie Michael Goldberg (Woodmere, NY/HAFTR), who made 10 saves. Mount Saint Vincent freshman goalie William Raftery (Bronx, NY/Salesian) earned the shutout win in his first career start as he stopped the lone shot on goal he faced.

With the win, Mount Saint Vincent will take to the road for four consecutive games, starting with a clash with CUNY powerhouse, Hunter, on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
